about

The new Tired of Triangles album is here, and it’s no sophomore slump. Behold . . . The Havanese, eight lean and mean tracks of guitar-oriented goodness. The songs range from punky full-band numbers to more atmospheric instrumentals. Recorded on and off over a period of eighteen months, the second Tired of Triangles album puts forth an appealing set of vibes worth dipping into again and again. Some thirty years after Dave first picked up a guitar, what’s on display here is less fiery musicianship or some kind of elder’s wisdom than a cultivated sense of taste spread across a variegated collection of tracks.

Interviewing himself on the subject, Dave had this to say: “Looking back on it, the creation of the first Tired of Triangles album, Up at 4 A.M., was almost like an act of therapy for me. It’s an at times angsty recording sporting an aura that feels insular. With The Havanese, I think the feel is more inviting and less self-conscious. These songs are personal, in some ways, but I was more interested in creating a sequence that I could enjoy as a listener than necessarily getting this or that thing off my chest. This approach allowed for more distance that I think results in an album that hangs together well from beginning to end, without overstaying its welcome.”

In and out in just shy of 26 minutes, The Havanese is available from Kaji-Pup Records in a limited batch of professionally replicated CDs in digipaks. The CDs include a free collectable pin with the album cover on it. The Havanese is also available as 24-bit digital files in the format of your choice.

about

Tired of Triangles

Tired of Triangles is a largely guitar-oriented musical concern based in Florida. When it began, circa 2015, there seemed to be an overabundance of triangles present in graphic design and the culture at large--hence the name.
